Edinburgh247 City Guide – Pathos review

by Celia Jenkins, EDIMBURGH247 City Guide

 ★★★★

This was a story about love and its consequences told through 6 acts; from the first flutterings of love through to the bitter (and bloody) conclusion. It was to be the first time I had seen any physical theatre, so was not sure what to expect! I have to say that I really enjoyed the performance from the very accomplished cast. The pantomime, use of grammelot (a kind of makeup language using elements of real language), masks and expressive gestures demonstrate really well the nature of love – powerful, magnetic, strange and universal. It also captures the humorous as well as the serious aspects of the emotion. The use of the visual projections and music complemented the show perfectly. I found it a very refreshing and impressive piece of theatre.
